Hello HRSSC Families,
It’s a new year and a new week – time for a new winter speed skating season!!
SHORT TRACK at St. Margaret’s Centre starts tonight, Tuesday 3 January.
LONG TRACK at the Halifax Oval starts tomorrow, Wednesday 4 January.
We are excited to offer both our Short Track and Long Track programs.We have access to the Halifax Oval during dedicated speed skating practice times for our Long Track program. It is a unique facility – the only official long track outdoor oval east of Ottawa.
- Skaters should wear all of their usual equipment PLUS an outdoor layer that still allows for flexible and active movement
- Always check the HRM OVAL WEBSITE before heading out – Closures can happen on short notice due to ice conditions and/or weather
- We try out best to send any notices as soon as available
- **Please look out for the next email with a call for Off Ice Parent Assistant during practice**

- START and END DATES plus NO PRACTICE DATES
- SHORT TRACK
- Tuesdays only in January and February; no Saturday evenings
- March includes Tuesdays and Saturdays (with no practice dates during March Break)
- Short Track program = Tuesdays x11 weeks plus Saturdays x2 weeks
- LONG TRACK
- weekday and weekend practice times
- Long Track program = 7-8 weeks (end date weather and ice dependent)
