FUNSCRIP

October 2012

Dear skaters and families,

Our club continues to use Fundscrip as a means of fundraising in order to help offset the cost of skating. For those of you who are not familiar with this program, it is essentially based on the purchase of gift cards. They can be purchased for use in many different stores (list on Fundscrip website) and in turn, that store will give money back in your Fundscrip account. For example, Sobeys and Superstore give back $3 for every $100 of gift cards you buy (if buying by EFT, but unfortunately much less if buying by credit card). The money accumulates in your own personal account and cheques are issued to members twice a year to have access to that money.

These are the 4 payment options:

EFT (electronic funds transfer)

********BEST OPTION********

EFT is an online debit where you pay for your orders from your bank account. EFT is the easiest way to pay for your orders as it’s like paying by cheque but without the paper. There are no transaction fees and no monthly fees. FundScrip submits a debit to your bank account and then your financial institution transfers the money electronically. It’s private, safe and secure. Supporters download the EFT form when they register and fax or email us a copy (with their voided cheque attached) to the info on the form. They will receive an email when their EFT account has been activated.

INTERAC® Online

Currently there are 4 participating banks: TD, BMO, Royal Bank & Scotiabank. This is a payment that will come directly from your bank account and you initiate it each time you order. There’s no need to fax us a voided cheque and no wait to order. Earnings are reduced by $0.85 cents when you use this payment option. When paying by INTERAC® Online, you will be directed to your online banking during the checkout process to process your payment immediately. Enjoy the same ease of use as Credit Card, but with a much lower processing fee.

ONLINE BANKING BILL PAYMENT (also known as Payee)

Pay for your orders from your online banking website by adding “FundScrip’ as a payee in your online banking portal then pay for your orders as you would pay any other bill

There are no fees or deductions to earnings for using this payment method

Please note that it can take at least three (3) business days for FundScrip to receive payment so please be sure and order 3 days before the your groups order deadline to ensure processing and delivery with the group’s batch

CREDIT CARDS

We offer Visa and MasterCard payment for individual orders placed online, but there is a reduction in the earned rebates of 1.99%. When you consider groceries are a 3% rebate, if someone pays by credit card, that number just got reduced to 1.01%%. However, earning a reduced rebate is better than earning NO rebate. The trick with credit cards is convincing people that want to use them to buy everything they possibly can through our program

We order cards every second Monday, and the cards usually arrive on the Thursday of that same week. We occasionally only get them on Friday if the courier is late, if there is a holiday that week, or if I work too late to get to Cole Harbour on a Thurs.  If you sign up, you can choose to order every 2 weeks or very sporadically, i.e. there is no commitment. The next order date will be on Monday October 29th, by 9am.

You can sign up at here. The “invitation code” is PNKSG5.  Please feel free to contact me directly with any questions about the program (email Lorraine.breauthompson@gmail.com or at 445-4843).

Sincerely,

Lorraine Breau-Thompson
